EDITION CICCIO SULTANO
2023

 

I Duplici is a multifunctional tableware collection designed by Giuseppe Arezzi exclusively for the two Michelin-starred restaurant “Il Duomo” led by Chef Ciccio Sultano in Ragusa Ibla.

 

The project started from the need to condense multiple functions into a few objects and is inspired by Chef Sultano’s culinary identity and the desire to use local materials and manufacturing techniques.

 

Objects:

 

- The two Amuse-bouche pieces are in white glazed Caltagirone ceramic. The cylinder is useful for containing sauces or liquid dishes, the surface for supporting solid dishes.

 

- The bread basket entirely woven in wicker, express the idea of serving bread in a contemporary key. Thanks to its “hourglass” shape, the single object can be used as a small breads holder or reversed as a breadstick holder.

 

- The bowl realized in “Pece” stone - an indigenous material from the Hyblaean Mountains area - is geometrically composed of a hollowed-out half sphere resting on a square surface. This shape allows to use the hollow part to contain olive oil and the flat part to place small dishes.

 

This collection has been developed thanks to the following collaborations: “Intreccio Vivo” for the wicker weaving, “Verus” for the production of Caltagirone ceramics and “Solarino Marmi” for the Pece stone artifacts.
